The Pianists that made me
We are obviously going to learn some Elton John so let’s start with the all-time banger:
When it comes to my approach to piano, it’s 100% about having fun. Piano is critical to your musical journey. I recommend playing it no matter what.
Fun fact - when you go to music school, if piano isn’t your primary instrument you basically have to take it as a secondary instrument. That is because music theory is based on the piano. Music theory is basically a bird’s eye view of the piano.
Having said that, I don’t always recommend playing all classical or rudiments. I say use it as an aid for your musical journey.
But if you want to be a pianist, just make sure to bring your A-game because I take getting funky on the piano VERY seriously. I actually play every single day first thing in the morning for 45 minutes.
